Olga Malea

Olga Malea (Athens, 7 November 1960) is a Greek director and screenwriter of the new Greek cinema. She was born in Athens. She studied Law at the University of Athens and Psychology at Yale University in the USA (1983). From 1985 and for ten years (until 1995) she directed documentaries for Greek and Italian television, as well as educational videos for the Lambrakis Studies Foundation. She "shot" her first video with her classmates at Yale University, at the time she was doing her PhD in Psychology. So far, she has written the screenplay - in collaboration with Apostolos Alexopoulos - and has directed six feature films, the first in 1996, the film The Cow's Orgasm. She has also directed the television series Litsa.com, Dreamcatcher and Our Best Years. Her 5th film in a row was called First Time Godfather, written and directed by her and is an adaptation of a short story from the book by Nikos Papandreou - son of Andreas Papandreou - Ten Myths and a Story. It was funded by the Horizons program of the Greek Film Center. Olga Malea has been presented by the American magazine "Variety" as a promising European director.[4] She is married and has two sons.
