Kyle McCachen

Kyle McCachen is a director and producer working in genre and documentary. Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains, he came to filmmaking through professional snowboarding and snowboard filmmaking, and has spent close to twenty years shooting in remote and extreme environments — including the Arctic — as a director, and as a Directors Guild of Canada unit manager and production manager. He directed The Drop: Why Young People Don't Vote, a feature documentary on voter apathy that drew national coverage including CBC's As It Happens, and Disabled and Dangerous, a short made in partnership with the ALS Society of Alberta that received a National Public Awareness Award. As a producer he has worked across a run of genre features made largely with Digital Interference Productions — executive producer on Spiral, co-producer on It Stains the Sands Red, associate producer on What Keeps You Alive, and production executive on Z. He is the founder of Set Tracker Inc. and hosts the Behind the Scenes podcast, interviewing the filmmakers shaping contemporary cinema. His first narrative feature as director, I'll Sleep When You're Dead, is a wilderness survival thriller shooting in British Columbia.
