Nicknamed Zizou, he is considered one of the greatest players in the history of football. He was cited among the 125 best players in the world still alive in 2004, in a joint ranking by Pelé and FIFA. He was named best world player of the year by FIFA three times, in 1998, 2000 and 2003, and won the 1998 Ballon d'Or. Although he was twice ranked second best French player of all time by France Football, he is for L'Équipe the best French footballer in history. While Real Madrid has nothing left to gain in 2018-2019, president Florentino Perez calls on Zinédine Zidane. Under his leadership, Real won its 34th Spanish championship title at the end of the 2019-2020 season and then its 11th Spanish Super Cup. After leaving his post at the end of the 2017-2018 season, he was recalled to the post of coach in March 2019 by president Florentino Pérez and won a second Liga in 2020.
