Domenico Lancellotti

Domenico Lancellotti (born November 12, 1972 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist, percussionist, and drummer. Of Italian descent, Domenico is the son of composer and singer Ivor Lancellotti. He grew up immersed in the rhythms and traditions of samba, which had a significant influence on his musical development. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Quarteto em Cy, Daniel Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Fernanda Abreu, and Adriana Calcanhotto. In the 1990s, he formed the experimental rock band Mulheres Q Dizem Sim. During this period, he met Moreno Veloso and Alexandre Kassin, who quickly became close friends and subsequent collaborators. In 2012, after meeting João Brasil in London, the two formed the experimental music project Taksi, releasing a self-titled five-track EP. The duo also released a music video for “Might Sound Noisy,” the EP’s opening track. Lancellotti is currently involved in several musical projects, including Os Ritmistas (NR/Dubas), alongside Stephane San Juan and Dany Roland; Orquestra Imperial, with Berna Ceppas and Kassin; and +2, with Moreno Veloso and Kassin. He has released two solo studio albums: Cine Privê (2011) and Serra dos Órgãos (2017), the latter of which was ranked the 24th-best Brazilian album of 2017 by Rolling Stone Brasil.
