Sight Unseen

After some difficulty finding employment, Thomas Coysh turned his focus to Para alpine skiing and spends the ski season training on Cardrona's slopes. Bunking in a yurt nearby, he skis with his ski guide, John, who uses audio cues through the use of headsets or speakers for Thomas to ski untethered.

After experiencing a sudden vision loss in his late teens, Roman Parahi has been adjusting to a blind world. Growing up with a love of sport, running is now his thing, and he regularly trains tethered to a sighted guide. Losing his sight highlighted who his good mates were.

Soulful musician Maretta Brown is pursuing a career in songwriting. Experiencing progressive vision loss growing up, music and her faith provided her comfort. She attends Excel Performing Arts School, which not only develops her musically but connects her deeper to her faith.

University student Ivy Wickens (they/them) navigates the world with a guide dog named Yale. Living in student accommodation, Ivy enjoys arts and crafts with their flatmates and the freedom that having a guide dog gives them.

Trans-masc and takatāpui Riley (he/they/ia) is passionate about queer representation and advocacy. As a queer and disabled person, safety is important to Riley, whether it be walking alone or finding role models to help accept their intersecting identities.
