Blindage

July 1941. A shell hits Serafima's house. Serafima buries the dead and finds the wounded Captain Khlebnikov. She hides him in a dugout. Later, a German deserter named Holtz joins them.

The village is under occupation. The Jews are herded into the stables. Demidovich, a district committee member, comes to Serafima, and she takes him to the dugout. Serafima visits the family of Nokhim, a local photographer, in the ghetto. The dugout's residents attempt to free the ghetto prisoners, but the Jews refuse to follow them.

A thief, Serafima's former fiancé, appears. He feeds Serafima, but works for the Germans. They are executed in the ghetto. Serafima saves Nokhim's little daughter.

The police arrest Serafima and Demidovich. The partisans reach the dugout. Serafima and Khlebnikov escape by swimming across the river, but Serafima is killed by the Germans.
