Saul offers any man who beats Goliath a bounty and the hand of his daughter in marriage and, to everyone's surprise, David accepts the challenge. Michal escapes Gibeah, believing her place is by her father's side at the battlefield. Rizpah's true origins are revealed. David's older brother, Eliab, inadvertently helps David realize his destiny.

David realizes his feelings for Michal and devises a plan to marry her instead of Merav. Michal asks Jonathan to watch out for David. Ishbal seeks to travel to Bethlehem in order to learn about David. Ahinoam is angered by David's humiliation of Merav.
