During their journey, the two companions are explaining the revolutionary principles elaborated between 1853 and 1870 by the architects of Napoleon III and implemented by the teams of the prefect of the Seine, Baron Haussmann.

Stéphane Bern and Lorant Deutsch describe the life of the population, the organization of the city, transportation and the trades that were practiced.
